Co-founder of Ethereum Responds to Critics of PoS amid Merge upgrade development

Vitalik Buterinn, Ethereum Co-founder has come out in response over critics’ view of the Ethereum platforms upcoming Merge upgrade, stating the views as an “unmitigated bare-faced lie.”

There are some in the community that believe Ethereum’s shift to the proof of stake model will bolster the platform’s currency, Ether, to succeed Bitcoin (BTC) as the top cryptocurrency in the world. However, there are also some that have publicly announced their criticisms of the Merge, sparking a fiery response from Vitalik Buterin. 

In this tweet, by user, NickDPayton, he is met with a combative response by Buterin who said his notions were an “unmitigated bare-faced lie.” He notide that PoS does  not make us of voting on protocol parameters, the same as PoW, whil explaining that nodes reject invalid blocks in both PoS and PoW. 

Jimmy Sng also had some harsh criticisms for the PoS system, questioning mainly the decentralization of the consensus protocol. Song is under the notion that the protocol does not solve the Byzantine generals problem.  Buterin was quick to respond:

Others have also been in the defense of the PoS system, as proponents like Charles Hoskinsons gave his take on Songs tweet, saying that the “level of stupid” in Songs tweet was “beyond explanation.”

Vivek Raman, a DeFi researcher, gave a positive take on the Merge in which he dedicated a twitter thread to the explanation of how the PoS system will help Ethereum’s economic structure in combating the supremacy of Bitcoin
